    Thought for The Week
    Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

During severe January storms the merchant ship MSC Napoli suffered structural damage in the English Channel. In an effort to avoid the ship breaking up and sinking in deep water the captain deliberately grounded the ship about one mile off Branscombe in the shallow waters of the Devon coast. Due to the fierce conditions about 200 of the vessel's 2,323 containers went overboard, with the result that many products such as Barrels of wine, shoes, hair care products, steering wheels, nappies, and BMW motorbikes have been washed up on the beach. Many people have taken advantage of the merchandise, scavenging the beach for the spoils of the grounded ship. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said scavengers who have descended on Branscombe beach were making the clean-up more difficult. The MCA said the scenes were a "nightmare" and "deeply upsetting". Mark Clark a spokesman for the MCA said "In 11 years I have never seen anything like it. Scavengers; some with babies in arms, others with tractors and trailers are plundering the cargo of the ship, it is sheer greed" Police reported that hundreds came long distances to plunder the merchandise scattered on the beach.

When something of value is available for nothing, it seems the greed in the human heart draws men and women like vultures to grab as much as possible. How different it is when God offers the free gift of salvation to lost humanity. Mankind, who is lost in sin and on his way to a lost sinner’s Hell to be punished for eternity, is offered forgiveness pardon peace and eternal salvation free of cost, and the majority will not accept it. There is greed in the human heart but there is very little guilt because of sin. Today God offers lost sinners the greatest free gift this world has ever seen. God’s free gift is eternal life through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ the Saviour. He suffered bled died and rose again to provide salvation for all who would repent and believe the Gospel. Will you come by faith and accept God’s free gift today?

    Kenny.
